Mastering the Stances of the Product Owner
The Product Owner’s role is multifaceted, requiring professionals to engage in behaviors and adopt mindsets beyond the core of Agility and the Scrum framework. This has led Scrum.org to create a new course that goes beyond the topics explored in the Professional Scrum Product Owner™ (PSPO) course and create the Professional Product Owner Advanced course.
The PSPO-A course places more focus on how a Product Owner can deepen their understanding of the role through exploring the many stances they take to navigate everyday challenges. These stances are:
- Customer Representative
- Visionary
- Experimenter
- Influencer
- Collaborator
- Decision Maker
Following yesterday’s official announcement by Scrum.org on the new course, Agile Actors #learning are delighted to be among the very first accredited organisations around the world that will be offering the PSPO-A with 2 sessions within 2020. Our first session will take place on 23 – 24 January 2020 with two of the most experienced Scrum.org international trainers, Chris Lukassen and Ralph Jocham, who were highly involved in the creation of the PSPO-A course.
The PSPO-A course is an interactive, experiential workshop where attendees explore topics covered through a series of exercises and discussions, building on top of existing practical experience of the participants. During the 2-days, the course will cover the following topics:
- Understanding your products
- Who are your customers?
- Connecting product features to customer outcomes
- Communicating the product vision and strategy
- Value and pricing models
- Innovation and experimentation
- Stakeholders and stakeholder management
- Agile governance, budgeting and contracting in relation to Scrum
- Scaling the Product Owner role
